Baby Amanda and Baby Bill:
Welcome one and all to Doll
Land's coverage of the 2006 Winter Olympics' Closing Ceremony.
Baby Amanda: Much to our
chagrin, Bob Costas has been up to his evil treachery again. . .
Baby Bill: Baby Amanda,
I thought we weren't going to go bring that up again.
Baby Amanda: Sorry, but
just remember
-- if this coverage doesn't
reach everyone in a timely fashion --
Bob Costas was behind it
all and is totally to blame.
Baby Bill: Surely he has
other assignments and won't hold a grudge.
Baby Amanda: We shall
see. And don't call me "Shirley."
Baby Bill: Good one, Baby
Amanda. I see you're in a jovial mood now. Let's start the
show.
Baby Amanda: Time for
the presentation of all the medals Doll Land's girls have won.
~
Baby Amanda: While usually
only athletes are eligible to win medals, the Eggplant Parmesan Girls were
so well-received that they were given BRONZE medals.
Baby Bill: Bronze medals
because those were closest in color to the yummy melted cheese on this
most delectable national dish.
Baby Bill: I still remember
the first time I enjoyed this tasty dish.
Baby Amanda: Mature egglants
are the color of the girls' outfits.
Baby Bill: Yes, and about
as scrumptious to look at, too.
Baby Amanda: And the tomatoes
are the color of our jackets.
Baby Bill: And the melted
cheese is the color of the awarded medals.
Baby Amanda: So awarding
the girls AND us Olympic medals makes perfect sense.
Baby Baby: Absolutely!
Baby Amanda: Regardless
of what "You Know Who" says.
Baby Bill: Baby Amanda,
you promised!
Baby Amanda: Oh, all right.
But everyone knows who I mean.
I suppose the costas
of bronze ore is too dear for some.
Baby Bill: Okay, I'll
let that one little pun go. Let's move on. . .
~
Baby Amanda: Our first
medals to Doll Land athletes go to The Brown Sisters.
Baby Bill: Yes, even though
they didn't win any events. . .
Baby Amanda: And barely
participated in their scheduled ones. . .
Baby Bill: We still think
they are deserving of some Olympic recognition.
Baby Amanda: The Participation
Medal is designed for all the athletes.
Baby Bill: But to make
The Brown Sisters feel a bit more special, we strung 3 together and attached
them to a yellow rose from Texas.
Baby Amanda: Because they
are all such "dedicated athletes."
~
Baby Amanda: With each
event, our Olympic prowess increased.
Baby Bill: Yes, next we
skied away with SILVER medals.
Baby Amanda: Ski Jumping
is so glorious. It truly is like flying.
Baby Bill: Controlled
flying.
Baby Amanda: That is always
the hope, Baby Bill.
Baby Bill: Well, except
for one teensy little mishap, we would have won gold.
Baby Amanda: Now Baby
Bill, Mel-O can't help that he lost his grip and took a tumble.
Baby Bill: True, but I
was seeing gold and then . . . Oops!
Baby Amanda: Not all Olympic
dreams can come true. Luckily we had several opportunities.
Not all Olympic athletes are so fortunate.
~
Baby Amanda: Next, our
first GOLD medals go to the Ski Bunnies.
Baby Bill: You might know
this would win us gold.
Baby Amanda: I think much
of that had to do with just how cute cute CUTE you were in your little
fluffy Ski Bunny outfit, Baby Bill.
Baby Bill: All right,
Baby Amanda. There's no need to rub it in.
Baby Amanda: Sorry, Baby
Bill, but you were the favorite of almost everyone in the crowd.
Baby Bill: I choose to
believe that's because I could swoosh downhill better and faster than everyone
else.
Baby Amanda: You look
at it any way you want, Baby Bill. We won GOLD!!!
That's all I care about.
Baby Bill: Yes!
It was such a thrill and I would do it again in a heartbeat.
Baby Amanda:
A fluffy fluttering Ski Bunny heartbeat. But I digress. . .
~
Baby Amanda: Then, we
won another GOLD.
Baby Bill: Yes, this time
for our overwhelming victory as a team in the Biathlon.
Baby Amanda: Wasn't that
fun!?! I loved both the skiing and the shooting.
Baby Bill: Who knew the
girls were such expert marksmen?
Baby Amanda: Oh, I did,
Baby Bill. I've seen the girls hone in on a target and hit it with
precision. It's just that it's usually been when they're snatching
new jewelry arrivals in Doll Land.
Baby Bill: I was going
to say that I don't remember any target ranges in Doll Land.
Baby Amanda: Not necessary.
The skills transferred effortlessly and easily.
Baby Bill: Truly remarkable!
~
Baby Bill: So now we each
have 2 GOLD medals.
Baby Amanda: And it's
time to award a GOLD medal to our star of the Snowboard Cross event.
Baby Bill: Banzai, this
time without her bear.
Baby Amanda: Yes, no commercial
endorsements during the Closing Ceremony.
Baby Bill: Oh no!
That would be crass.
~
Baby Bill: And for our
glorious CURLING victory,
Baby Amanda: we won another
GOLD medal.
Baby Amanda: Look, I've
run out of hands to hold them!!!
Baby Bill: What a shame!
Me, too!!!
Baby Amanda: Curling was
our second favorite event of the entire Winter Olympics.
Baby Bill: It was a major
coup for Doll Land to win.
Baby Amanda: Oh yes!
The Russians and the Canadians were quite devastated.
Baby Bill: But were reasonably
good sports about it.
Baby Amanda: I just hope
the Canadians don't hold a grudge,
because the 2010 Winter Olympics
are in Vancouver, Canada.
~
Baby Amanda: And now we
are presented with our last
Baby Bill: and most special
Baby Amanda: GOLD medals
Baby Bill: for our triumphant
Pairs Skating.
Baby Amanda: Plus, we've
been given special
GOLD and PLATINUM medals to
take home to the CEO in Doll Land,
Baby Bill: because she
is always a winner to us.
Baby Amanda: Ah, the 2006
Winter Olympics have been good to us.
Baby Bill: But we worked
hard and did our best and we deserved the victories.
Baby Amanda: Oh, yes!
Each moment of the games and
every second of our stay in
Torino has been truly magical!
Baby Bill: Memories that
will last a lifetime!
We've been so happy to share
it with all our friends and fans around the world.
Baby Amanda: Now we have but
one last thing to share with you --
Baby Bill: our crowning
achievement --
Baby Amanda and Baby Bill shout
jubilantly in unison:
our already classic GOLD-medal-winning
Pairs Original Skate!!!
